Flight from Amsterdam to Vancouver
The Canadian Rockies & Coastal Mountains

Having crossed the Great Plains we reached the outskirts of the Canadian Rockies. Green forests  climbed up the mountain slopes being followed by the lighter green of alpine pasture and then the brown and grey colour of barren ground. The first row showed only random patches of snow but the further we flew the whiter became the peaks. Blue and turquoise lakes shimmered in sheltered dents. Rivers and roads were winding through the valleys. Houses and villages could be spotted too. A rough majestic landscape send its greetings to us. Two and a half weeks later we would be exploring this region from the ground.
Reaching the coastal mountains we started our decline on Vancouver Airport. My ears hurt so badly as if they were trying to burst. However the glorious mountain scenery deep cut inlets and the first sightings of Vancouver Island helped me to distract myself a bit.
The snow covered peaks in the distance belong to Vancouver Island.
WELCOME TO BRITISH COLUMBIA!
